Kawika Alfiche and his San Francisco Bay area halau will be performing a special concert at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s luau grounds on Sunday to launch the group’s newest CD, “White Ships.”
The 5 p.m. event offers a rare opportunity for attendees to see Alfiche performs songs from his new CD, which celebrates the hapa haole era of Matson line steamships. The show will take the audience on a dramatic two-hour journey from the ancient to modern era of Hawaiian music.
Admission is free, and proceeds from merchandise sales will benefit Alfiche’s Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center in San Francisco.
